DR SARA MATCHETT
Pinelands
Dr Sara Matchett is a certified Breathwork Practitioner, Lead Trainer of Fitzmaurice Voicework®, a Performance-Maker, and Associate Professor at UCT’s Centre for Theatre, Dance & Performance Studies. Her interests are in embodied practices that focus on presencing, co-sensing, collaborating and co-generating as a way of transforming ‘egosystems’ to ‘ecosystems’. Her practice is premised on the understanding that all living beings, both human and other-than-human, are connected by breath. The engagement of conscious breathing enables clients to experience the inter and intra-connectedness of all things and enhances a profound understanding of breath and how it can support emotional regulation and self-knowledge.
Sara offers her clients an integrated experience of breath, body, voice and imagination to enable them to discover their unique embodiment and enjoy greater freedom, creativity, and presence. She does this by engaging breath as the catalyst and thread that weaves a connection between body, voice and imagination. By paying attention to the breath and how it associates with felt perception nurtures a relational body that is more perceptive and responsive.
Sara offers individual and group Breathwork classes for adults and young people.

Katrien Kruger
Murraysburg
Breathwork has always been a journey of returning — to oneself, to the body, to essence, to community, to nature, and to the present moment. It is a return to the core, drawing a full circle that embraces the entirety of who we are. Breath by breath, we come back to ourselves, rediscover the strength in connection to others, and find safety in being fully present in life.

The profound power of breathwork, both as a mindfulness practice and a means of embodiment, continues to amaze me. Whether through gentle, calming techniques or more intense, transformative sessions, the breath holds space for safety and self-regulation. My deepest desire is for everyone to experience this sense of safety within their own bodies, understanding that the body holds onto what it does not yet have the capacity to release or integrate.

With a background in Physiotherapy and Pilates, I bring the intricate relationship between movement and breath into my breathwork practice. I am passionate about how our bodies, our experiences, and our breath are interconnected—a truth that is central to the work I share and the space I create for others to explore.
