Day 20 – The Spaghetti Breath for Children

The Spaghetti Breath is easy and fun and can be used anywhere and at any time. If things are rowdy or we feel unsettled, the Spaghetti Breath can be used to relax in the moment.

The reason it is called Spaghetti Breath is because uncooked Spaghetti is hard and tough and can break easily – sometimes we feel like that – both in our bodies and our minds. What we want to feel like is cooked spaghetti – soft and squishy. Doing 3 Spaghetti Breaths when we feel anxious or scared helps our bodies relax, and when our bodies are relaxed, our minds start to relax.

Simply taking a long breath through the nose and then relax it out through the mouth – no controlling or forcing, just an instant sigh. You can do this sitting on the floor and gently fall over when breathing out. It can be used when sitting in a chair or at a school desk.
